Jiangsu Maritime Institute (JMI), located in Nanjing, China, is a full- time public higher education institution approved by Jiangsu Provincial Government.
JMI has three campuses located in Jiangning, Qinhuai and Banqiao of Nanjing respectively, which covers a total area of 100 hectares. JMI has nearly 700 faculty members among whom 40 are professors, 170 are associate professors. JMI has 11 schools and 1 department, 44 majors and 12,000 enrolled students.
JMI has a long tradition of actively seeking partnerships and collaborations with oversea universities and has established exchanges and cooperation programs with government, colleges, institutions and enterprises from 26 countries and districts such as UK, Australia, Canada, USA and Malaysia and so on.
JMI is making great efforts to carry out education for overseas students, and has recruited 200 overseas students who are mainly from Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Nigeria, South Africa, Kazakhstan and other nations along the Belt and Road.
JMI accelerates international strategy and expands international influence in school running. In 2017, 2018 and 2019, JMI ranked Top 50 among all higher vocational institutions and colleges in terms of international influence in China.

Eligibility for 2020 Applicants
Basic Requirements
Foreign citizens, no criminal record, aged 18 or above (by September 1, 2020), in good mental and physical health;
Good character, abide by Chinese laws and regulations, respect Chinese customs and abide by school rules and regulations;
Excellent scores, with good Chinese or English listening, speaking, reading and writing abilities;
Having relevant academic certificates.
Academic Requirement:
A certificate of graduation from high school or above;
Language Requirements:
Students applying for three-year Diploma Programs taught in Chinese shall provide the corresponding Chinese proficiency certificate: HSK Test Level 4 with a score of 180 or above;
Students applying for three-year Diploma Programs taught in English shall provide relevant English proficiency certificates: English proficiency certificate, English course transcripts; proof that English is the instruction language in high school;
No language requirements for students applying for one-year Chinese Language Program;
Financial Support
All applicants need to have financial support for study from family or other organizations;

Scholarships
1. First-class Scholarship:RMB 9000 Yuan/Person/Year
(1) Top 5 in academic performance among all the applicants;
(2) Obtain international skills certificate;
(3) Obtain international honor certificate.
(The First-class scholarship can be awarded if any of above conditions is met.)
2. Second-class Scholarship: RMB 7000 Yuan/Person/Year
Remark:
(1) The freshman scholarships will be assessed according to the applicant's application materials and entrance examination results;
(2) Scholarships for the second and third year will be assessed according to students' academic achievements and overall performance in JMI.

Evaluation and Admission Offer
Applications submitted with all information correct and complete will be evaluated by JMI.
Applicants who have passed the Application Review will be admitted to the interview. The method and time of interview will be informed in advance.
Outstanding applicants recognized by JMI may have interview waived and get an offer directly.
The admission decision is based on a comprehensive evaluation of academic performance, language ability, supporting materials as well as interview (if applicable).
The formal Admission Notice, Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW202), and other admission documents will be sent to the admitted applicants.
Freshmen should register on time according to the time specified in the Admission Notice and register for temporary accommodation within 24 hours after entering China.
Those who fail to register in JMI within two weeks without reason will be considered to have automatically abandoned their admission qualification. Physical examination will be organized by JMI, and those who pass the check will be qualified for admission.
