From October 27 to 30, the 2022 FLTRP Cup Speech Contest of Jiangsu Higher Vocational College Students' English Challenge was held in Nanjing. A total of 192 contestants from 67 higher vocational colleges across the province participated in the contest. Each contestant competed online to demonstrate their English ability and personal style. After fierce competition, Wang Wenjing, an undergraduate majored in Modern Logistics in JMI, won the first prize, Zhu Junjie, majored in Customs Affairs and Foreign trade, and Yang Xinyue, majored in Big Data Technology, won the second prize.
Affected by the epidemic, the competition was adjusted to be held in the way of online competition and supervision and offline centralized review on the premise of maintaining the overall framework of the competition rules. The competition will take the form of fixed topic speech and impromptu speech, including question and answer session. With their solid language skills and easy stage manners, our contestants demonstrated a good mental outlook and proficient English language skills. The results of the competition demonstrated our students' professional and comprehensive ability to communicate, analyze and solve problems and complete tasks in English, as well as the international communication ability to spread Chinese culture and tell Chinese stories in English, which also fully demonstrate the fruitful achievements of our English teaching reform.
