On the afternoon of October 18, the School of International Education organized a seminar on the revision of the talent training program for 2021 international students. The meeting was hosted by Zhang Yuanyuan, Deputy Dean of the International Education School. Zhang Dongfang, director of the Marine Engineering Center of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Zhao Yunbo, assistant director, Qin Deru, in charge of the International Trade Major of the School of Economics and Management, Wang Ying, in charge of the Electronic Information major of the School of Information Engineering, all teachers from the Chinese Language Course Center of the School of International Education, and relevant teaching and management personnel attended the seminar.

Zhang Yuanyuan first introduced the daily teaching and management of our 2021 international students during the epidemic, the latest admission policy for international students and the new problems that will be faced after admission. Compared with previous overseas students, the training of international students of Year 2021 has its particularity, which needs to be fully considered in the process of formulating the talent training plan. It is necessary to ensure the education and teaching effectiveness of international students of Year 2021, and also make adequate plans to deal with possible new situations.

Wang Haiyan, the director of the Chinese Language Course Center, introduced the specific arrangements of the Chinese language courses for 2021 international students, including the curriculum, class hour allocation, school year allocation, etc., and explained in detail the adjustment of some courses for 2021 international students according to their specific situation. Zhang Dongfang, Zhao Yunbo, Qin Deru and Wang Ying aired their opinions based on the teaching arrangements of their respective specialized courses and the requirements of their majors for the training of international students, and put forward modification plans on the connection of Chinese courses and specialized courses. In order to better achieve the goal of training international students of all majors, everyone agreed that corresponding training programs for international students can be formulated according to the specific requirements of each major.

At the seminar, they also had a heated discussion on the problems of attendance and network encountered in the daily teaching and management of our 2020 and 2021 international students, and exchanged in-depth the effective strategies to improve online teaching in the context of the epidemic, as well as the experience of the cloud management of international students. The participating teachers agreed that in the future work, they can organize more such seminars to further strengthen communication, so as to better serve the talent training of international students of JMI.
